Next investment

What we are looking for next.

Our first investment is being built in Botany. This page sets out what we want in the next one, and how to reach us if you know of one.

From the directors, October 2026. Shivam Rathi, Mehul Sejwal and Rohan Pandit

At a glance

Looking for
An operating business with a model that already works
Where
Sydney, or close enough to visit often
Our role
Shareholder, a seat on the board and time on the ground
Capital
Our own, with no outside investors
Timing
Looking now, and always

Always looking

The capital is ours and there is no deadline to meet, so we can take our time over a decision and say no far more often than we say yes.

It also means we never stop looking. If the right business turns up next month, we want to hear about it next month, not at the end of a quarter.

Our first investment, House of Pickle Botany, shows the kind of position we like: a shareholding, a seat on the board, and a real job to do once the doors open.

We would rather own part of a few businesses we know well than hold a long list we do not.

What we look for

We have no set sector. These are the things we check first.

  • A model that already works

Customers, a trading history and results we can study before we commit. A new site for a model already trading elsewhere counts, which is how our first investment came about. An idea that has never traded does not.

  • Room for an owner to make a difference

Venues and service businesses where someone on the floor, watching the detail, changes the result. Sport, leisure and hospitality are natural places to look, but they are not the only ones.

  • People we want to work beside

We expect to be partners for years. We choose the people as carefully as the numbers, and we hope they choose us the same way.

  • Within reach of Sydney

We are based in St Leonards and we like to turn up. A business we can visit easily is one we can help.

  • Terms agreed in writing

Shareholder rights, a seat on the board and regular reporting, agreed in writing before any money moves. Where it suits, capital goes in by stages as milestones are met.

What we bring

Alongside the capital, this is what we bring.

  • Our own capital, decided on by the three directors who are putting it in
  • A seat on the board, and close attention to the numbers
  • Regular time at the business itself
  • Patience. We hold for the long term

How it works

  1. You tell us about the business

Use the contact form or write to us. A few paragraphs is plenty: what the business does, where it is, how long it has traded and what you want from a partner. Share only what you are comfortable sharing at this stage.

  2. We talk

A director replies and we set up a conversation. We will ask a lot of questions. You should ask us just as many.

  3. We look at the evidence

If it looks like a fit, we go through the trading records and key contracts together.

  4. We agree terms in writing

The terms set out above go into a signed agreement before we invest.

  5. We go to work

After we invest, we take our seat and stay involved for as long as we hold the stake.

If it is not a fit, we will tell you early and plainly. A clear no is better for both of us than a long maybe.

Probably not for us

  • A business whose model has never traded anywhere
  • Anything we cannot explain simply
  • A stake where we would sit at a distance, with no say and nothing to do

Work with us on the next one

There are two reasons to write to us.

Bring us a business

If you run a business, own part of one or know someone who does, tell us about it.

Tell us about a business

Work with us

If you would like to work in a business we back, introduce yourself.

Either way, you will hear from one of us. Shivam Rathi, Mehul Sejwal and Rohan Pandit

Threefold Capital invests its own money. We are not raising capital, we do not take money from outside investors, and nothing on this website is an offer or an invitation to invest.
